Concomitant Spinal Intradural Meningioma and Extradural Angiolipoma
نویسنده
چکیده
Background: Spinal meningiomas are frequent tumors and they may be associated with other tumors involving central nervous system or other systems, especially in the patients with some syndromes such as neurofibromatosis or multiple endocrine neoplasia. However, spinal angiolipomas are quite rare benign tumors, and they are generally solitary lesions. There is only one case whose spinal angiolipoma associates to another tumor, a spinal osteochondroma at same level, in the literature. Methods: A 54 year old lady was reported with a thoracic spinal intradural extramedullary meningioma and a lumbar spinal epidural angiolipoma. Results: Any syndrome causing development of neoplasias could not be found in the patient. Both tumors were removed uneventfully. Conclusions: This is the first case with concomitant occurrence of spinal meningioma and spinal angiolipoma in the literature.

Discrimination between spinal extradural meningioma and both intra and extradural meningioma: Case Report
Meningiomas are common spinal tumor and mostly located at intradura. Recurrence rate after surgery for extradural meningioma was higher than intradural meningioma. A patient with intra and extradural spinal meningioma was treated and discussed its features and clinical management. A 41-year-old woman noted numbness of bilateral legs, gait disturbance, and mild bladder disturbance for over the t...

A 16-year-old girl had progressive neck pain and weakness in the left hand. MR images showed a dumbbell-shaped spinal tumor with a prominently enhancing intradural component and a minimally enhancing extradural component. Pathologic examination revealed a meningioma with an intradural transitional component and an extradural syncytial component. The tumor showed no significant cystic change or ...
متن کاملRadiographic Pearls in the Evaluation of an Extradural Thoracic Meningioma: A Case Report
Spinal meningiomas are the most common of adult spinal tumors. Spinal meningiomas account for up to 45% of all intradural spinal tumors in adults and up to 25% of all spinal tumors. While spinal meningiomas are traditionally classified as intradural lesions, up to 14% may have an extradural component. Preoperative evaluation and directed use of imaging techniques are key in these rare but obser...
متن کاملExtra-intradural Spinal Meningioma: A Case Report
Extradural spinal meningiomas are uncommon, and their pathophysiology is not entirely understood. Here, we present the case of a 49-year-old woman with low back and left leg pain of 5 years duration. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a mass, 1.8-cm in size, with rim enhancement in the spinal canal at the T12 level and extending into the left T12-L1 foramen. In the surgical field, the mass pre...

Hemangiomas are considered as vascular malformations which are categorized by the type of vascular channel to capillary, cavernous, venous or arteriovenous(1). Their usual locations are soft tissue , cutaneous or subcutaneous tissue and bone especially vertebra(2).However, intradural extramedullary hemangiomas are rare and most of them fall in cavernous type category. Hereby, authors report a w...
